Knowledge test for food serving businesses

Norwegian legislation requires General Managers of food serving businesses to pass a knowledge test on the Food Services Act. The manager must show a working knowledge of all areas specified by the provisions of the Act.

The multiple choice knowledge test deals with issues relevant to the running of a food service business such as financial management and relevant Acts such as the Food Service Act, Alcohol Act, VAT Act, Accounting Act and Working Environment Act.

The test is based on the text book: Læremateriell- etablererprøven for serveringsvirksomhet (available in Norwegian only).

General Managers applying for a food service licence must sit the test with the local municipality. The local municipality will also be able to answer questions relating to the test.
