Business Plan

The business plan is a systematic and thorough presentation of a business idea and how the idea is to be implemented. The plan is important when you communicate with other stakeholders at a later stage.

You are the primary user of the business plan yourself. The plan should give you a better understanding of the tasks ahead. If well done, the business plan will both improve the prospect of a successful project and illuminate the risks you face in your business concept.

Contents of the business plan:

You will find numerous forms and “recipes” for a well composed business plan on the net. The typical table of contents will include the following:

1.       Executive summary

2.       Company – organisation

3.       Business idea

4.       Market analysis and marketing plan

5.       Products and services

6.       Budget / financial plan

7.       Operational plan

Make sure your business plan is well organized and error free. In particular, make sure you include all sections, and that the description is precise and to the point. The template and corresponding guidelines (see the right hand column) should help you produce a sound plan.
