Import of nutrients

After the extenstion of the EEA-agreement in 1998, the system of import control was changed. All importers of nutrients shall register by the local food control authorities, and almost all goods that are going to be imported shall be reported in advance to the Authorities in charge.

When it comes to import of food of animal origin from third countries, each shipment should be reported in advance and be controlled by approved customs house. Regarding import of nutrients from EEA and food of non-animal origin form third countries should the first receiver of the shipments be reported in the preannoncement, so that the Norwegian Food Control Authority can make spot tests of the shipments there. Importers of nutrients have two regulations to follow regarding import control, dependend on whether the goods are food of animal origin or food of non-animal origin and whether they have origin in the EEA or outside the EEA (third countries). For further information please contact Narviktelefonene no. 800 33 840 or e-mail via BEDIN or The Norwegian Food Control Authority.
