The primary function of the Institute is to promote export of Norwegian goods and services and Norwegian investment abroad. GIEK offers guarantees in six different groups:
- whole turn-over scheme
- pre-shipment guarantee
- investment guarantee
- bond guarantee
- supplier's credit
- buyer's credit
